Is the child afraid of school bullying, having problems with academic tasks or facing separation anxiety and fears that something will happen to them or the parent upon separation?

What does the underlined part mean? (upon separation?)

Top answer

something will happen to them or (to) the parent / upon separation upon separation = at or just after separation, and happening as a consequence (I would guess it means separation of the parent and child at the start of the school day)
