Internet Friends?

I have a question about the word "Internet friends."

I saw it from my English test and I am wondering if it is proper to call a person you meet from the Internet an "Internet friend."

I saw it from my English test and I am wondering if it is proper to call a person you meet from the Internet an "Internet friend'.

I don't see anything wrong with this, at all. It's simple, and easy to understand.

We do have the phrase 'a pen friend'. This means someone we write to a lot, but never or seldom meet. You could say that
