Interim

The coffin will be brought by motorcade to the Reagan Library at 1800 California time (0100GMT on Saturday) for a private sunset ceremony on a hill overlooking the Pacific Ocean, a site he selected in 1991.

He had been planning his memorial services since 1981, a family spokesman said.

The state funeral will be the first since that of former President Lyndon Johnson in 1973.

Only one other former president has died in the interim, Richard Nixon.

Nixon, who resigned in disgrace following the Watergate scandal, had asked not to have a state funeral and was buried privately in his home state of California.

What is died in the interim?

The word interim connotes temporary nature. For example, interim government, interim arrangement, etc. Even the interval of time means interim.

Hi..

So how would it work if you had the following statement "Transitional Interim Government" would this mean a provisional transitional government ? or would it be grammatically incorrect to have transitional and interim in the same sentence...would they mean the same thing ?
