Most countries allow 18 year olds to start driving a car. Some say it is good to allow at this age while others think that the age to start driving should be at least 25. Discuss both the views and give your opinion.

More and more people are driving a car nowadays. Many countries permit their citizens to start driving at the age of eighteen while others believe that this is not the right age and people should be allowed once they reach the age of twenty-five. In my opinion, people should be allowed in eighteen years because they become mature and their responsibilities increase manifold in twenty-five years of age.

People get maturity after reaching the age of eighteen and they are able to make difference between right and wrong. This is because their thinking ability is increased and their physique becomes strong too. In other words, their height and mental ability enable them to drive safely without anyone’s help. Australia, for example, permits its citizens to drive once they reach eighteen years as its more than 90% population passes the driving test, which also requires a minimum height of five feet and questionnaire, at this age.

On the contrary, some believe that twenty-five years should be the age of driving because people who are eighteen years of age are still young and immature. That is to say that people obtain experience as they age, and when they reach the age of twenty-five, probability of mistakes in driving are reduced to a great extent as they are able to control their emotions. However, citizens of most major countries are allowed to drive much before this age as they are believed to have become enough matured for driving. In China and India, which are the two most populous countries of the world, for instance, people are permitted to drive a car after the age of eighteen. The reason being they pass the college at this age, and their mental ability is expected to be increased as a result of higher studies.

In conclusion, although many countries are of the view that their citizens should not be permitted to drive before twenty-five years of age, I think that eighteen years is the right age for driving because they gain enough maturity after this age.
