Intensive English courses

Hello,

I wonder what intensive English courses are like. What do they exactly teach during intensive courses?

Thanks

I took and intensive English course years ago during summer, in my country and the teacher was from London. I found it very interesting. It depends on the level, on the school, on the teacher, on the country.

  • You'll be lucky if the teacher is a native English speaker.
  • During an intensive course one should learn a lot of things in a short time.

Some of my students have taken intensive courses before and they have had mainly poor results. But it all depends on the teacher and the institution that you go to.

The big language schools usually take groups of 6 or more and just go through a book during the morning and the same again in the afternoon. Taking one to one lessons intensively is expensive but can lead to good results.
