Intensify/strenthen relations

The contract strengthened relations between the two companies.

Women's hockey teams have definitely strenghthened over the past decade.

His promise intensified our trust in him.

As the children's argument intensified, their teacher stepped in to stop it.

Hi,

For me, intensify and strengthen are synonymous with each other, so I think either fits in all of the above. Correct me if I am wrong. Thanks.
