'...intense feeling expressed through a work of art...'

Hi all

I am having a little trouble recalling a word that I came across the other day. Its a word that you use to describe the intense feeling you express through a work of art such as a piece of writing. I think its noun but I can't be sure. I do remember its not a particularly easy word to spell though. I would appreciate any attempts at fishing this elusive word out.Emotion: big smile

Okay, I know this is not related to word hunting, but I was just wondering if you would say 'do these ring a bell' instead of the usual 'does this ring a bell' if more than one thing is addressed?
