Hi, this is my toefl essay. Could you please check and give me some advice to improve it?

In this set of materials, the reading passage mentions that it is more beneficial in all aspects that employees work only four days a week for four-fifths percent of their normal pay instead of five days. On the other hand, the lecturer is doubtful about this theory.

First of all, the author claims that the shortened work week would increase the company profits because the employees would feel rested and relaxed. He believes that the company will be able to hire more staff with no additional cost. This point is challenged by the lecturer, he says that hiring new staff could be expensive because new worker means training and medical benefit and bigger office. Furthermore he points out that health insurance is the same for employee who works four days or five days.

Secondly, the author states that this change will reduce the unemployment rate. He argues that for every employee who went on an 80 percent week another employee will be hired. In contrast, the lecturer rebuts this argument; he thinks that companies will push its own employees to work overtime. He elaborates on this by mentioning that the employees will be forced to do the same amount of work of 5 days in four days which will make work unpleasant.

Finally, the author mentions that this change allows the employees to improve the quality of their lives. He is of the opinion that employees will have time to spend it with their families, pursuing private interests. The lecturer, on the other hand, states that this change can present a risk for the employee. He puts forth the idea that employee who went on an 80 percent week can be the first who will lose his job if any economic crisis happens. He mentions also that he might be excluded from any promotion and he cannot advance their career.

In conclusion, the lecturer effectively casts doubt on all the claims and theories mentioned in the reading passage.
