insulate noise

Can you please tell me how do you write the below?

The door insulates the noise very well. When the door is open you hear what goes on in the other rooms, when the door is closed, you hear nothing.

Many thanks

The door insulates the noise very well. Nice try, but no cigar. Things insulate against whatever, and noise is a mass noun here: The door insulates against noise very well.

  • The door insulates the noise very well.
  • Nice try, but no cigar.
  • Things insulate against whatever, and noise is a mass noun here: The door insulates against noise very well.
  • If you can do without the word "insulate", you can write that the door blocks noise, which is more natural.
  • We would normally only call a material, like styrofoam, an insulator, not an object like a door.
