Inspired vs. has inspired

Which one is correct between :

"He is the one who inspired her to become a doctor."

or

"He is the one who has inspired her to become a doctor."

Should I use the past simple because the person started to be inspired at some point in the past, or should I use the present perfect because the state of being inspired lasted at least until she became a doctor, and she is probably still inspired by this man ? I'm struggling to choose.
