Insight

Hi,

I was told that I should never use ‘insight’ in the plural form, but I think that it works well in the following sentences.

“When you work in a group with older students, they can offer you a variety of insights.”

“Different people can give you different insights into the same topics.”

“My mom is a woman of great insights.”

What do you think?

Thank you.

I do not agree that you cannot use "insights", but you do have to be careful. The AHD has " 1. The ability to discern the true nature of a situation, especially by intuition.

I do not agree that you cannot use "insights", but you do have to be careful. The AHD has

"1. The ability to discern the true nature of a situation, especially by intuition.

2. A perception produced by this ability." Definition 2 permits the plural, but definition 1 does not. By that measure, your first two sentences are fine, and your third is wrong.
