Inside/outside

Hello Teachers,

He had as much luck inside the casino as I had outside it. #1

He had as much luck inside the casino as I had outside of it.#2

Are both forms okay?Is 'of' necessary when using 'outside' or 'inside' like this?

No. 'outside it' is more common than 'outside of it', but both are used. 'inside' works the same way.

I recommend that you leave out 'of'.
