There is water inside/in the glass.

I put my lunch box inside/in the bag.

Two hours have passed since I told to you to come over here. You haven't come yet. This shows you are disobediant.

If the "I put my lunch box inside the bag" is correct, then why "There is water inside the glass" is wrong. Could you give me a brief idea when we should use "inside" and when should not?
