inside out

Hello. I hope you could help me.

I don't understand the meaning of the term "inside out" in the following sentence.
Do you have any idea what it means?

This is from a following website: http://www.secomea.com/company/why-secomea/our-technology-versus-traditional-vpn/

>All connections from SiteManagers and LinkManagers are established inside out, and only standard Web ports are used (such as 443).

Could it mean that connections must be established by equipment on "your" side of the firewall; i.e. unsolicited connection requests from the outside world are rejected? I'm only guessing based on the words used. I'm not a technical expert.
