Insert 'that' or not.

Hi Everyone,

I have a question about this sentence I wrote earlier:

'The reason Billy is upset is that he lost his wallet.'

My question is:

Do I need to insert the word - that - into the sentence?

Can we say, 'The reason Billy is upset is he lost his wallet.'

This doesn't sound too bad - I think.

Emotion: tongue tied

Thanks,
