Insects and gravity

Are these 2 sentences natural?

Is respect correct here?

Gravity doesn’t affect insects the way it does us.

It is like insects don’t respect the law of gravity.

Thank you

That is OK, but "like" in this sense is casual conversational English. In writing, you should more properly say "as if" or "as though", unless you deliberately want a casual feel. "respect" is OK.
