Injury time

Ashley Young scored an injury-time winner to shatter Everton, who had equalised only seconds earlier.

Why do you say 'injury time'?

Does it stem from players' injuries?

Thanks

I am brave to answer this, since I do not follow this sport at all. However, I found this: Injury time: Extra time added to the end of a half to compensate for time stoppage due to injuries.

Mr M is right. In practice, any other reason that delays the flow of play may also result in extra time. 30 seconds is usually added for each player substitution, for example.
