ING clarification

My question

1)I was willing to follow up with a potential client

over weeks and even months, developing a relationship with them until they were

ready to make a deal with us.

2)I was willing to follow up with a potential client

over weeks and even months and I was developing a relationship with them until they were

ready to make a deal with us.

My question is ; meaning of both the sentences are same?

What first sentence is trying to say and what second sentence is trying to say ?

Dear sir, I need clarification on both the sentences.
