infrastructure

Hello,

We now have well-established infrastructure.

Infrastructure seems like uncountable/countable.

Do I need to use "a" here? If so, why?

Thanks/

It all depends on the context. Compare these:

We need to invest more in infrastructure. (general, uncountable,)
We have an infrastructure that is better than the competition's. (specific, thus uses an article)
The infrastructure in Africa has slowly been improving over the past decade.(specific)

It doesn't sound right without "a" because we usually change an uncountable to a countable when we modify it with another word (or more).
