Information vs Informations

Please could you tell me why exactly 'information' never takes an 's'?

It's not a countable noun.
The same with advice, or luggage, or furniture, or any other of many non-count nouns.

You can't have "an information" or "two informations." You can have a piece of information, or even two useful bits of information.
