Information vs. informational

What is the correct use of information vs. informational? Would the music department hold an information meeting? Or would the musical department hold an informational meeting?

They could hold either. It is not an important difference, and I can well imagine that institutions across the west are holding both.

It depends on the purpose of the meeting. If it's to have a presentation about certain facts, it's informative. If it's to allow students to come in and gather what information they need, it's informational.

A newspaper article or a speech give information - that's informative. A map, or a bunch of pamphlets allows anyone to pull out the information they want - that's informational.
