Informal letter writing

Anyone, please correct my English grammar and sentence structure.

Dear sir,
"Wishing you a very HAPPY NEW YEAR ". How is our company progressing? We hope everything is on the full swing. As per our contract document, we have four more months to stay here, which means we'll be back to our company in the early June of 2012. However, Our project manager was asking us if we would want to extend our working duration for another few months.So our response was, "it'll depend on our MD". Therefore, we'll be glad to hear your decision at the earliest convenience.

I won't make an attempt to revise your letter as I didn't quite understand the contract aspects. I let you do the rewriting yourself. I just want to offer my two cents as I see it. Informal letters or emails doesn't often start by "Dear Sir", which is formal.Try to avoid small talks. Get to the business at hand. This is still a somewhat business letter in my opinion. So in trying to be informal, you still should maintain professional.
