Informal letter asking for information

I am trying to dig up some information about a position in the Honor Society Executive Board so I would like to contact him to ask about some general information about the position and maybe get some insider tips to win the votes over the other candidates. Here's what I have produced so far:

Dear XXXXX,

I am Gus Bromen and I am currently an AGS member interested in running for the Spring 2012 Inter-Club Council Representative. As I see that you were the Spring 2009 ICC Rep, I would be very appreciative if you could give me some information about the position and some main points that a candidate for that specific seat should stay mindful about.
