informal letter

Hi there

Could you please check the following letter for any glaring mistake? Thank you.

-----------------------------------------------

Dear Stan

I got your letter this morning and was surprised to know that you want to buy a pet.

If I were you, I would also get a cat which is the best friend one can have all the time. It’s perhaps the easiest pet to care for as it doesn’t need a lot of attention. A cat doesn’t need a daily walk though it would be quite happy to play with you a few times a day. It will eat most of the food that you eat so there won’t be any problem even if you don’t want to splash out on fancy tinned cat food. To make it extra cheery, you can give him about half a pint of milk everyday. Being a tiny creature, a cat doesn’t really need a special place but you do need to keep it warm as cats are warm-blooded animals.

There are many advantages of getting a cat as a pet rather than other animals. One things being a clean animal, the cat cleanses itself several times a day so you don’t have to waste your precious time scrubbing and bathing your pet. Unlike dogs, cats rarely get sick so it will generally stay healthy for a long time just after a few inoculations at your local vet.

On the downside, cats are notoriously difficult animals to toilet-train. It will take more than a few days before you can see it doing its business in its toilet tray. During the mating season, it’ll make all sorts of screeching noises which can be quite annoying and, if it’s a male, it may disappear for a few days while chasing a partner.

Still, I think a cat would be the best for you if you’re bent on having a pet as it will nicely fit in with your lifestyle.

Let me know whether you manage to buy a cat or not.

Love

Kate

Hi,

Great news! My mother has finally agreed to let me keep a pet on one condition that I look after it myself. I have twi choices - to keep a fish aquarium or a cat. I haven't made up my mind which one to keep.
