Infinity times

Hi, in last episode of Family Guy was something like this: "It's only infinity times what you bring home every week". Can someone please explain me it in simply or other words what does it mean?

Top answer

"infinity times what you bring home every week" means infinity multiplied by the amount of money that you earn each week. Since infinity is limitlessly large quantity, the speaker is wildly exaggerating for humorous effect.

And you're saying that it exactly means what you've just written? I naturally understand it but it still doesn't fit to the context of this dialogue. Or maybe I still don't get it.

He's suggesting that she not complain about him spending money when she doesn't earn any.

VorparHe's suggesting that she not complain about him spending money when she doesn't earn any.
In that case, then, it is less of a wild exaggeration and more of a mathematical indeterminateness.

I think this is the dialog you're referring to. I found it online.

Peter, this chair costs $3,000.
That's not so much, Lois.
It's only infinity times what you bring home every week.

Thanks for your explanation, but did you notice that it was Peter talking this phrase to Lois, not she to him? That's why I was wondering what was the meaning of this.

The speakers appear to be:
Peter, this chair costs $3,000.
Peter: That's not so much, Lois.
Lois: It's only infinity times what you bring home every week.

Do you know whether the person referred to as "you" in "what you bring home every week" earns any money at all?
