Infinitive phrases

Hi teachers,

Please help me with the following things.

(1) Jane asked him to bring some food from the market.

(2) Everyone wanted Carol to be the captain of the team.

Many questions are related to the infinitive phrases the above sentences have. In my first example, what is the function of 'to bring some food from the market'? And what is function of 'to be the captain of the team' in my second example?

Please help. Thank you.
