Infinitive or gerund?

"The teacher will have the student stay after school"
"The teacher had the student staying after school"

"The cops may catch him do drugs in the alley"
"The cops caught him doing drugs in the alley"

"I'll get him do some jogging"
"I got him doing some jogging"

Should we use the gerund form only when it refers to the past?

Thank you
