Infinitive or gerund

Is there a difference between these 2 sentences:

The most important thing, for him, is resting.
The most important thing, for him,is to rest.

Does anything change if I use the infinitive or the gerund?

I see no call for commas. The only difference I see is that the gerund suggests that he may already be doing it.
