Infinitive after than?

"It´s easier to escape than to cope with all these problems."

"It´s easier to escape than cope with all these problems."

Which of these sentences is correct? If both are correct, which one sounds better?

The first one sounds better to me too in this kind of sentence. However, I feel the of use of "to" after "than" sounds a little awkward, especially in sentences like. "I´d prefer to escape rather than to cope with all these problems". Does this one sound to you as well as the above mentioned? I´d like to know your opinion as english speakers.
