infinite riches of possible scenarios

what's the role of 'riches of' in this context:

what attitude should a reasonable scientist take towards these infinite riches of possible scenarios?

couldn't we merely say, ' infinite possible scenarios'? is there any common pattern for using such wording?

thanks in advance,

cheers, Ali

The writer is expressing the opinion that the (many) possible scenarios are of inestimable value . That is the meaning of infinite riches . I don't see a unique 'pattern' here.
