In/during my travelling

Hi! 1) I'm not sure about the preposition in this sentence: I need English during or in my travelling. (Travelling in general, wherever I go). What do you think about it?

2) And one more thing: Can we say "a chewing gum", if we mean a piece of Dirol, for example? In dictionaries it is given as an uncountable noun. But I've met it with "a" - a chewing gum
