Individually done?

Hi. Is the first underlined part clear as to the fact that each student wrote their goal on a piece of paper? Also does the second underlined part say that each checked his or her goal?

At the beginning of the semester, the students wrote their short-term goals on a piece of paper, and then at the end of the semester, they checked if they had achieved their goal.

Is it more clear if it is written like this? Please note the words in bold letters. Sorry, but should it be "goals" or "goal" for the phrase "their short-term goals"? Thank you in advance for your help.

At the beginning of the semester, the students each wrote their short-term goals (goal?) on a piece of paper, and then at the end of the semester, they each checked if they had achieved their goal.

Thank you. As to your question, yes, each had a different goal. Now, please help me with this, too. I think in the sentence below, the phrase "their phone" clearly conveys the notion of people using their individual phones - more so than the phrase "their phones. What do you think?
