Indispensable person?

Hi,

afaik the word "indispensable" is often used to qualify objects without life, eg one can say

"indispensable things".

Would it be correct to apply "indispensable" to people?

ARe the examples beloe correct?

(1) She is an indispensable member of staff.

(2) I wish I were indispensable to the process of creating our brand-new products

ARe there other words that are close enough/ synonymous to 'indispensable' in this context (1) (2)
