Indirect statement
Ram said,'I left the job four days ago.'
The indirect statement of this sentence is 'Ram said that he had left the job four days before.' OR. 'Ram said that he had left the job four days earlier.'. My question is which one is correct, the one with 'before' or the one with 'earlier'? If both are correct, which one is more common? Please help.
