Indirect speech of the exclamatory sentence

Hello,

1.The girl said, ‘How beautiful the rainbow is!’ ( rewrite into indirect speech)

A. The girl exclaimed with joy that the rainbow was very beautiful.

B. The girl said how beautiful the rainbow was.

Which one is correct between 'A' and 'B'?

Thanks.

Top answer

"exclaimed" in (A) seems appropriate, but the original sentence does not mention "joy", so I wouldn't add that.
