Indirect speech

My father said " If you have to turn to somebody,turn to your mother." How can we write this sentence in indirect speech?

But there was no should in the quoted sentence . Can we use "must" , "could" etc. in place of "should" ?

My father advised me to turn to my mother if if I had to turn to somebody.
