Indirect questions

hi,

I have a doubt regarding indirect questions.

If i use an indirect question beginning with "Can", should i make use of question mark (?) at the end of the question?

For example, consider the following statement :

"Can you please clear put this document in the folder". Here do i have to put a question mark at the end of the statement?

Top answer

"Can you please clear put this document in the folde r? '. The same holds true for 'Would you', 'Do you mind if', etc.

  • "Can you please clear put this document in the folde r?
  • '.
  • The same holds true for 'Would you', 'Do you mind if', etc.

"Can you please clear put this document in the folder?"-- The question mark is still required; it remains a question: 'Could you?'. The same holds true for 'Would you', 'Do you mind if', etc.
