Indirect object?

Hi, everyone.

He triped over me and fell.

Is "me" here a direct object? If not, why?

Thanks!

No: "me" is complement of the preposition "over". Objects, (direct and indirect) relate directly to a verb, never to a preposition. Note that "me" would be direct object in "He tripped me".
