Today our professor in the university gave us some sentences to analyze; then we had a sentence which I could not agree with the professor.
We get food from plants.
The underlined part was the cause of disagreement. I said its form is prepositional phrase and its function is adverb. The professor said its function is indirect object. I said it's not indirect object because an indirect object receives the direct object.
I'd appreciate it if a native teacher could leave an absolute comment on this issue.
