Indifferent to/about something

Hello,

Which preposition collocates better with indifferent? A couple of sentences:

- She was amazed that people could be so indifferent to/about the trial.

- I was surprised to see so many monkeys in the parking lot, but my friend was indifferent about/to them.

I don't think I'd use indifferent in the second sentence but that's what I found. Emotion: smile

Thank you in advance.
