indicating accuracy

Please see the following sentence:

Once you have checked the draft of the soon-to-be-published phone directory, initial your name, indicating accuracy, or make the necessary corrections in red ink.

I 'd like to ask why indicating is used here, not indicate. What does indicating accuracy mean?
