Independent from?

Hi,

I have checked on the dictionary that the right preposition to use after "dependent" is OF.

"I am not dependent of my parents"

Translating from Italian to English, I would say "dependent from" does it exist a situation when I can use "from" instead of "of"? This "of"does not sound to me natural..

Thank you

Pamela

I think that "of" sounds normal. My dictionary says that dependant is used with "of".
