Independent clause -need explanation

Hi all,



she can make him do the exercises but not stick to the diet.

1) Does the above sentence mean, she can make him do the exercises but she cannot make him stick to the diet?please explain

2) Does this sentence have one or two independent clauses? please explain.

I think I would call the whole sentence a single independent clause with a compound predicate. Does anyone use that terminology anymore?
