independent clause

"an hour ago, Peter ate an apple when the bell ringed and dog barked"

which one of the three choices is INDEPENDENT clause?
A) an hour ago, Peter ate an apple when the bell ringed and dog barked'
B) Peter ate an apple when the bell ringed and dog barked
C) Peter ate an apple

please help , i really dont know if "an hour ago" should be included in the independent clause

so , if the sentence is "An hour ago, Peter was eating an apple when the bell rang and a dog barked"
then should "an hour ago" is part of the independent clause ? or what is the independent clause
