Indefinite article a?

Hi, everyone.

Could you tell me whether I should use "a" in the following paragraph or not? The paragraph is going on my resume as an introductory paragraph.

I have a resilient character and a unique ability to manage expectations and ensure that security services meet both customer and contractual levels. I have a comprehensive understanding of best practice within the security industry and is able to respond to and plan for the demands of a wide range of customers. I have a professional demeanor, always use appropriate language with members of the public and promote excellence in customer satisfaction at every opportunity. I possess an/the(which one is correct and why?) ability to assess a situation quickly and can use appropriate actions to diffuse confrontations. Right now I would like to join a company that appreciates hard work, loyalty and commitment from its staff.

Thank!

The highlighted "a"s are all correct. In the penultimate sentence you can use either "an" or "the". "is able to" should be "am able to".

I just want to make an overall comment.

In Canada, resumes do not usually include paragraphs of prose. They tend to be written mainly in point format.

It's your choice, of course.
