Indefinite adjective

e.g. I read a/an history book.

I have a/an herb garden.

Which is correct? For "history," I use "a." For "herb," I use "an."

Yes, "a history" book, and "an 'erb" garden -- at least in the US.

I believe in the UK, the H in herb is pronounced, so they would say (and I'm sure someone will correct me if I"m wrong) "a herb garden."
