RE: Request for REVIEW PERFORMANCE and SALARY INCREMENT

Hi Mark,

Good day to you.

I was employed since 2013 Aug, nearly to 2 years until today. My salary had increased from $1800 to $1900 after 6 months probation.

I would like to request your kind review for my performance during the past 1 year 8 months and provide a reasonable increment accordingly.

I understand everyone that working in FreeForm has to be multi tasking. Other than provide technical service and training as Product Engineer in FreeForm, I am be grateful if company willing to transfer my title to Sales Engineer. I am expecting to have 30% of my current salary increment for the coming May and future if possible.

I have been employed since August of 2013, and during that time, I have had a single raise, from $1800 to $1900 after my six-month probationary period. I am therefore requesting that you review my performance over the last twenty months and provide a commensurate raise. I will be happy to provide a written overview of my contributions to the company.

In the US, it's called a "performance review." If it's different in Singapore, go with your local name.

I assume that Mark is your boss, that you are a first-name basis with him, and he is the one with the authority to give you a raise. In any case, "Hi Mark" is too informal for a business request.

You'll have to explain your second paragraph about the change in title to Sales Engineer. It seems that you're a Product Engineer now, and it seems that means that you provide technical support and training on FreeFrom software. A Sales Engineer sounds like a much different position, which requires skills and responsibilities different from a Product Engineer. But that's just a guess. If I'm right, then you'll have to convince Mark that you've got the ability to do the new job. Would it be a promotion?

You're asking for a 30% raise, which is 18% per annum. It sounds like a whopping amount. Is that customary at FreeForm?

Is there a standard process for performance review and salary administration? I'll guess no, since you're writing this letter.

I have no idea whether 'performance review' or 'review performance', by the way, subject : performance review sounds better/correct.

Mark is my boss, his company only has 3 more employee which: his wife (ladyboss), one more software guy and I.

FreeForm Solution is our company name. I had already propose to him regarding to the Sales engineer post, he and his wife still consider about it. I know 30% is too much, but my salary supposed to get more in this industry, too many of my friends has same thought too.

My company never has performance review for us, I am thinking to leave if the salary still remain $1900 after May.. provided I found a job.

Do you think I should tell my boss that I found a job that willing to pay me $2500, then ask for $2500 salary from him if he wants me to stay?
