In some countries an increasing number of people are suffering from health problems as a result of eating too much fast food. It is therefore necessary for governments to impose a higher tax on this kind of food. Do you agree?
Imposing higher tax on fast food could decrease the amount of consumption on this kind of food, which could hold great potentials with various perspective. From a healthy standpoint, ready-to-eat food could be such a source of problem that it might be a culprit behind wide range of health issues such as obesity, heart disease since it is a rich source of fat and preservative. In fact, according to a research published by Oxford university in 2015, people consuming fast food frequently are 20% more likely to be diagnosed with diabetes type 2 than those who do not. If there were tax policy on junk food, this figure would not be that negative. In addition, with toddler children consuming a lot of potato crisps and pizza, their academic performance could be eroded as this kind of food contains much little of vitamins and minerals that is necessary for the development of brain of young kids. As far as environment is concerned, thanks to restriction of ready-to-eat food, a significant amount of garbage could be reduced, thereby enabling to cut the number of landfill sites and reduce harmful emissions of waste treatment process.
