Increase of OR Increase in.

I'm confused about how to use it correctly.

Jack : There is so serious about the increase of/in car in my city, currently.

This is not a complete question. You need a verb. i.e. How bad is the traffic congestion where you live?/ in your city?

How about if I use it as a topic of my paragraph.

Which one sounds formal ?

" The increase of car ownership in 2002 -2012 "

" The increase in car ownership in 2002 -2012 "

" The increase in the number of car ownership in 2002 - 2012 "

Thank you.

This one is formal enough, and it could be a title for your paragraph, but I don't recommend the others.
