Rencetly people seem less inclined to learn anything themselves.

Is my sentence correct and natural?

I understand Lately fits much better than recently. That's because the sentence is a bit formal, so lately which I think is a little bit more formal than recently should be used, right?

I prefer lately because it shows the last part of time while recently has the connotation of the freshest/newest part of time
Both are formal.
